TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO DRUG SEIZURE

(PEMBROKE, ON) 

On July 11, 2021, at approximately 1:00 a.m., members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on Church Street in the City of Pembroke. After speaking with the driver, officers conducted a Standard Field Sobriety Test as part of the investigation. 

Police also seized drugs as a part of the investigation. 

The driver, 37 year old Heidi SCANES of Pembroke, has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) offences:

  • Operation while impaired - drugs
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamines

A passenger in the vehicle, 25 year old Benjamin LECLAIRE of Pembroke, has been charged with the following CDSA offence:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamines

 

Both accused persons were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on August 31, 2021.
