Nicole Hotchkiss is hoping Catholic schools across Halton will be allowed to raise the rainbow flag during Pride Month in June. Melissa Candelaria spoke with them to discuss the issue. On Tues. April 20, a motion will be presented to the Halton Catholic District School Board. There is also a petition circulation asking Halton residents to support this effort. The Ontario government may have announced the temporary suspension of in-person learning, but there is an exception. Students with special needs and their educators are expected to be back to in-person learning the week of April 19. Melissa Candelaria spoke with Halton President of the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario Kathy Proctor to discuss the challenges these educators will face when back at school.

What started out as a fundraiser to earn a badge for Beavers turned out to be so much more than expected. Ethan, Edward, Nicholas and Nathan have put together about 2,000 Dynamite Bath Bomb kits and are close to their $20,000 goal for McMaster Children's Hospital and Camp Ooch & Camp Trillium. Unions representing teachers and school staff are calling on the Ontario government to do more to protect their members. The Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario held a virtual press conference on April 7 to share its concerns about school safety, and the need for the immediate vaccination of education workers.
