What Lies Beneath: Canadian Shipwrecks of Lake Superior

10:00 AM — 05:00 PM

What Lies Beneath: Canadian Shipwrecks of Lake Superior was developed by the Thunder Bay Museum to travel across Canada. This exhibit tells the largely undocumented story of many of the ships that wrecked in Canadian waters including passenger liners, war ships, freighters, ghost ships, yachts, fishing boats, and tugs. Also included are some of the Canadian vessels that wrecked off the American island of Isle Royale, just a short distance from Thunder Bay and part of the area’s navigation route. Featuring video footage, interviews, and selected artifacts from many of the wrecks, What Lies Beneath illustrates through first-hand accounts from survivors the struggle between humans and their environment, and stories of human courage and survival.
